SUMMARY:Regional Council Gathering - “Now What: Hope for the Future” - June 6\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:Now What? \nNow that we know what things COULD look like in 2035 and we have a sense of the alternative future we could imagine\, what do we do now? \nJoin us as we gather together to discuss how we put wheels on the vehicle that will take us to that alternative future we imagine. Our special guest Rev. Adele Halliday will share her thoughts on what that might look like\, as well as looking at our regional council’s strategic plan. There will be workshops and time for connection with one another. We will also be electing those who will lead us in the coming years to help navigate toward that preferred future. \nLooking forward to seeing you there! \n \nRegistration is now open below. SUMMARY:Online AGM-March 2026
DESCRIPTION:Context is everything. How we do ministry\, how we speak to people\, how we organize ourselves. God doesn’t stop speaking to us when our context changes. God is still knocking at the door and our ability to respond in a way that is contextual is key. In Quebec we face continued pressures to secularize. Conversation about the benefits of church are a challenge. What can we learn about our context and how does ministry stay relevant in our context today. As we formally review the work we’ve done over the last year and examine our structure\, we will also be learning more about how the law is affecting our work and how we might respond to the needs of the world. We continue to learn how to answer when love knocks.  \nThe regional council gathering on March 20 and 21 will be held on Zoom. Registration is now open below. Documents will be posted as soon as they become available. SUMMARY:Regional Council Gathering - June 2025 (hybrid)
DESCRIPTION:The regional council gathering on June 7\, 2025\, from 1pm to 5pm\, will be held in person at Palais des Congrès de Montréal\, room 520\, and on Zoom. You will receive the Zoom link after you register\, in an email confirming your registration. \nThis spring meeting’s theme is Toward 2035. Following a series of briefings on the statistical data of the church from 1992 to 2023 and the extrapolation to what 2035 would look like\, the regional council would like to participate in the ‘whole church effort’ to work with all parts of the church to make strategic interventions that will help to impact the forecast in ways that are practical and direct. \nPlease note that separate registration is required for Resonance2025. SUMMARY:Flourishing - Conseil régional Nakonha:ka Regional Council
DESCRIPTION:Spend a day with the Moderator\, engaging in reflection and energizing activities towards dream-oriented actions for our churches and communities. \nSaturday\, September 21\, 2024 9:00 am to 4:30 pm (local time). \n\n9:00am -9:30am Registration and coffee\n9:30am – Welcome and Introductions\n\n  \nIn person \nCedar Park United Church\n204 Lakeview Ave.\nPointe-Claire\, Quebec H9S 4C5 \nAll around the world – from universities to the United Nations\, from corporations to community organizations – people are talking about flourishing. Rooted in belonging\, flourishing means living with purpose and joy\, and bringing bold collaborative solutions to our world’s challenges. \nThe Moderator\, the Rev. Dr. Carmen Lansdowne\, wants to bring that conversation to The United Church of Canada. She invites us to connect to one another in hope\, with a deep conviction by a belief that\, despite all the challenges of church life in this day and age\, we can move from despair to transformation – from languishing to flourishing. \nIs your church flourishing? \n(Perhaps that’s the wrong question.) \nIs your church contributing to the flourishing of your community? \nHow might we truly be a flourishing church in the world? How might we live in deep spirituality\, bold discipleship and daring justice\, linked from coast to coast to coast in ministry that transforms us and the world around us? \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER:  Conseil régional Nakonha:ka Regional Council Workshop

SUMMARY:Online Learning Session: Strategic Plan 2024
DESCRIPTION:The VisionAction Team has been hard at work listening to all of you who have participated in our consultations and have submitted written feedback. From pages of feedback\, the VisionAction Team will distill a final draft report which it will submit to the Regional Council for consideration and a vote at the November 24-25 meeting. \nIn order to have more time to explain the report and the outcomes of the public consultation process\, we will be holding an information session on Monday\, November 20 at 7:00 pm on Zoom. \nPlease join us to dig deeper into the report\, into what you have told about the priorities for Nakonha:ka\, and to do any final fine-tuning to the report before it comes before the Regional Council at the end of that week. \n \n Download 2024 Strategic Plan

SUMMARY:Regional Council gathering - June 2023
DESCRIPTION:Pre-meeting resources\n The Regional Council gathering on June 3\, 2023 will be a hybrid meeting (in person as well as on Zoom)\, hosted by Plymouth-Trinity United Church in Sherbrooke. \nWhat will we explore together?\nThrough the symbolism of loaves and fishes\, we will explore the idea of how we share abundant life with each other: in our communities of faith\, pastoral charges and other ministries that make up our regional council. We will focus on answering God’s call to faithful discipleship\, as individuals take on active roles with leadership teams (Nominations) and as we begin to imagine how to discern our path forward together (VisionAction). We will discuss the new Remit\, concerning the autonomy of the Indigenous church and highlight upcoming celebrations of the completed Mohawk translation of the Bible. Updates from other initiatives will also be shared. \nThe afternoon will conclude with a celebration of milestones for ministry personnel\, including the ordination of three candidates for ministry: Cynthia Reynolds\, Aaron Miechkota and Aron Molnar. We will also mark some other important milestones in the lives of ministry personnel\, communities of faith and pastoral charges\, celebrating (and grieving) together. \nHow can I prepare for the meeting?\nDO YOUR HOMEWORK: Please download and review documents in advance by clicking on titles in the Meeting Resources section below. [NOTE: There will be no access to Wi-Fi or printed copies of documents on site\, so please download and/or print your own copies.] \nBYO LUNCH : Participants are invited to bring their own lunch. \nCALLING ALL CHEFS / BAKERS: The June meeting will offer occasions to connect in person during gathering time and break times.  If you feel called to share your cooking/baking talents with the people at the Regional Council Gathering\, we are looking for people to offer to share in the “Pot-Luck” snack ensemble. If you would like to cook up or bake something in a shareable quantity for the meeting\, please contact Shanna Bernier to let us know what you will be bringing.  We only ask that you please make a small sign indicating what your creation is and if it contains any major food-concerning ingredients like gluten\, milk\, eggs\, etc.  ***NO NUTS OR PEANUTS PLEASE!*** Looking forward to tasting your creations in our time together! \nBRING A BOOK\, SAVE A TREE: The June hybrid gathering of the Regional Council will have a book table for anyone wishing to re-gift books from their collection for others to adopt and add to their own libraries. Please bring along any books from your own collection that you think might be of interest to others that you are happy to offer up for adoption. [NOTE: We ask only that you please bring back home any of your books not adopted by those in attendance.] \nBRING YOUR KIDS!: Children’s programming/childcare will be provided. \nSHARE YOUR GIFTS: We always need readers\, stewards\, equity team members\, etc. to help with the smooth running of the meeting. What gifts are you willing to share? Please indicate how you can volunteer using the space provided on the registration form or contact Valerie Nickson\, chair of the planning team. \nREGISTER ASAP! It’s important for the planning team to know how many people will be attending on site and how many will be online so please don’t wait until the last minute to register!
