Sara DeMelo-Zare

As of April 2023, Sara DeMelo-Zare began her work for the Conseil régional Nakonha:ka Regional Council as their Archivist. She is responsible for preserving, organizing, and maintaining the church’s historical records. This also includes providing access and reference services to researchers, members of the congregation, and the public. As an archivist, it is also her responsibility to develop and implement policies and procedures for the management and preservation of the church’s archival materials, ensuring physical preservation with external institutions, and collaborating with other staff members, church leaders, and community organizations to promote the use and understanding of the church’s history and archival collections.
Sara is an alum of Concordia University and Université de Montréal, with completed studies in History, Human Rights, and Information Science. Previously, Sara worked as an archivist and information management specialist for several organizations, including the Jewish Public Library, Miss Edgar’s and Miss Cramp’s School, Clinia, and others. She is also employed, in addition to with the Council, by Coding for Veterans as their Academic Director. Her experience in both archival management and education, paired with her community and non-profit work, inspired her to pursue this new role.
