United Spirit Camp online was a big success. In these uncertain and disconnecting times, we wanted to be able reach out to our camper community and remind them that we love them and miss them! When things are safer we will be here to welcome them to camp. We sent out a letter with some “warm fuzzies” and some friendship bracelet string to every camper from the past three summers.
During what would have been our week of camp every morning at 10 am we gathered for Worship with Mama Bear (Joelle Leduc) our camp chaplain, followed by a staff led activity. Scuttle (Georgia Barratt-Lamey) led a scavenger hunt, Giggles (Amanda Rocheleau) led drawing and doodling and I, Shamama, led a show and tell.
With the help of Feather (Heather Wyche) and friends, we had a campfire every night, which combined pre-recorded versions of our favourite songs, as well as live renditions of some of the more interactive ones. On Friday, we even managed to have a variety show! In addition to the interactive and live content, we made a You-Tube Channel with tons of fun silly videos, as well as instructions for some camp classics to be done at home. We also created some beautiful artwork which can be purchased on stickers or t-shirts on our red-bubble site.
Our goal was to stay connected and show our campers, counselors and staff how much we love them and how much we love camp. Stay tuned for more activities and camp fun throughout the summer and beyond!
Congratulations, Shanna, for what sounds like a wonderful plan B. Can you please send me something for this week’s Update, relative to any and all “campers” from P-T?
