Selwyn at MCM
MCM hosted a group of Grade 11 students from Selwyn House in April as part of the school’s Community Action Program. A lively discussion occurred between the MCM team about our work with migrants, and the culturally diverse group of students who shared stories of their families and ancestors. Jewish and Muslim perspectives were also exchanged on the conflict in the Middle East. At morning`s end we took the group on a tour of St. James sanctuary, mentioning the many famous personalities who have spoken there such as British feminist Emmeline Pankhurst and civil rights leader Coretta Scott King. We finished off in the basement where the old bowling alley, installed to entertain the troops before shipping out during WW2, was a big hit!
