The Finance and Extension Board (F&E) of the Conseil regional Nakonha:ka Regional Council (CrNRC) is almost as old as the United Church of Canada itself with roots in the Methodist and Presbyterian mission boards that supported ministry for generations before F&E’s creation in 1926. The Board is volunteer led and currently has 15 members, all approved by CrNRC and serving a maximum of five consecutive two-year terms. Let’s start with a bit of history: F&E was established as an independent corporate body by federal law in 1926 soon after the creation of the United Church of Canada. It merged the much older Presbyterian Board of Trustees of the Presbytery of Montreal and the Methodist Union of the City and Suburbs of Montreal and was designed to provide financial and organizational support to the mission of the new United Church.
